This message is for all Grosse Ile High School seniors: “Move it, ya load. Get your applications in.”

The deadline for local scholarships’ submission is fast approaching on Wednesday April 3, 2024. The Grosse Ile Educational Foundation offers two $2500 scholarships awarded to an outstanding male and female scholar-athletes—the GIEF Steve Sims Leadership Scholarship.

The criteria for recipient consideration include:

  • Must be a graduating senior who plans to attend college or university after high school

  • Must have earned a Varsity letter during their high school career

  • Demonstrate the following leadership qualities valued by Steve Sims—Competitive Spirit, Sense of Fairness, Humility, Integrity, Love of Life, Sense of Humor, Ability to Motivate, A Giving Spirit

This scholarship was established to honor the life and legacy of beloved teacher and coach, Steve Sims who died unexpectedly in April, 2003.
